on October 31, 2016This is a bit complicated. This plant is certainly close to what Polunin & Stainton called Tanacetum gracile in 'Flowers of the Himalaya' which they consider is common on stony slopes in Ladakh @ 2800-3600m. Stewart felt the same but this species is not listed in Dickore & Klimes more up-to-date checklist for Ladakh but T.artemisiodes is. Stewart recorded this species from Ladakh as well. Both are accepted names in 'The Plant List' with a specimen named as the latter species collected by Thomson in Baltistan in the Kew Herbarium. I am uncertain about the current thinking as to how to distinguish between these closely-related plants so cannot comment further. Chris Chadwell shpa.org.uk
